Subject: Received fish!
Date : Fri, 30 May 2003 13:25:55 -0400
Hi Max,
The fish were delivered about 11am yesterday. They made the trip
even though overnight shipments don't make it here until the second day. I
put them in their tanks and they were all looking very nice and healthy. I
checked them this morning before leaving for work and they are all still
doing fine. One pair of the rams are even displaying very bright colors and
may be starting to breed! Thank you for the nice healthy fish!

Aloha,

Sam

Note : We alerted Sam about the alarming tracking results we received from UPS and looked after his shipment until it safely arrived:

Hi Max,
I should be receiving the shipment today, 5/29. It got into Honolulu
on the island of Oahu yesterday, and it just got to Kauai this morning I
believe. It should be delivered to me today. I will call UPS and see if I
can go in and pick it up if they are not delivering until this afternoon.
Aloha,
Sam

Subject : Fish Order - Thank You

Date : Wed, 14 May 2003 05:32:09 -0700

Good morning Max,

Thank you so much for my order. I am truly impressed by the quality of your Rams. Their color is spectacular and true to the pictures on your website. Imagine, what I saw is what I got!! This was really an easy process for acquiring high quality fish. I'll be ordering additional fish in the future. For now, I want to give the new fish time to claim territory, before I add others.

Thanks Max.

Claudine

Max, I received the Apistogramma from you the day before yesterday. They all arrived in excellent condition. This is really a good idea to ship the fish with plastic
bottle, I have never seen any other people used this method to ship the fish. I will let my friends know that when they send me the fishes. You must be an expert on Apistogramma, can you tell me what other kinds of Apistogramma you have available now?

Hi Max,
It was great doing business with you after exchanging e-mails over the past
several years. When I decided to replenish my Apisto breeding stock I
checked your site and found you were expecting fish at any time. I'm glad I
waited for your fish to come in. The six pair I ordered are doing well. The
female Nijsseni is in full brood dress (I ordered Monday, received fish
Tuesday, and today is Thursday) and I'm expecting to see eggs this weekend.
The Opal are spectacular, as are the Trifasciata, Agassizii, Eunotus, and
Viejita II.

Thanks so much!

Ray

Hi!! Just wanted to let you know that the fish arrived safely!! They are doing wonderful! They are starting to get their color back already! (not a lot but it's coming) One question though, what do you feed them? They are a lot smaller than we expected. Are they full grown? We are new to these little guys!! But we love fish exspecially cichlids!!! We are just use to larger ones!! Thanks a lot!! Any pointers would be appriciated also!!

Thanks again

Thanks Max again for you fish.

Max,
All 24 A.cf eunotus are alive and adjusting to the new tank. A couple up front that I
could see (I shut the tank lights off) were thinking about eating if not
snacking a bit after a few minutes in their new home. Thanks for the plants you
threw in too! It's been a pleasure doing business with you. I'll let you know
how they are doing in a few days.

Max,

The fish are doing great. They are much more colorful than anything I
see at the aquarium stores.

Thanks for being so helpful and informative.

I'll keep in touch.

Kindest regards,

Subject : Fishes Just Arrived!

Date : Tue, 11 Feb 2003 17:50:07 -0800

Hi Max,

The fishes arrived in fine shape. Wow, that's a neat way of shipping
small cichlids. The water was perfectly clear, and of course, no need
to worry about fishes getting stuck in bag corners. The fishes are very nice.
Thanks also for the extra fish.

Thanks again Max! It was a pleasure doing business with you.

Customer complaints which led to negative feedback ratings on Aquabid for our username "apisto"

Sometimes and thank God not very often,we have to deal with not so nice people which are blaming us for the death of their fish. I remember a quote from the late Jim Quarles of Discus fame which explains best how we feel about some of the complaints we get:

" I'll make sure that our fish are of the best health, of the highest quality possible and that they'll get to you alive. How you'll kill them is entirely up to you"

We received this e-mail 3 weeks after a pair of A.agassizii male 2 1/2"TL ,female 2" TL arrived at this individuals house:

hi just wanted to let you no that both of my fish were sick and not eating
when i got them they finally died yesterday. i am real disapointed, being
shipped in a bottle is that your normal mode of shipping nobody else does
that i
invested a lot of money into those 2 frys disspointed in the size to do you
replaced sick fish let me no thanks ronnie

We replied:

Ronnie,
We don't know how the fish were treated and acclimated after you got them .
We'll only honor replacement requests that were e-mailed to us within one
day of the arrival date. You should have e-mailed us immediately after the
arrival of your fish. Our shipping and replacement procedures are posted in
the FAQ section of our website. Sincerely,
Max Gallade
Owner L&M Tropicals

Ronnie replied:

well i think the way they were shipped suck and i think you suck wont buy any of those small very small fish from you and i will leave you a negative feedback asshole

We replied:

Ronnie,
What is your problem? You got the fish on March 18th and contacted me almost
a month later ,telling me that the fish died. Do you think that anybody who
sells fish replaces them after they were in your tank that long??? The
problem could have been in your tank or your acclimation procedures ,who
knows. Your claim is ridiculous. I would have worked with you but you chose
otherwise.
I will report this to my lawyer if I receive one more e-mail with foul
language from you.
Max Gallade

We highly recommend not to sell livestock to this individual. He currently uses Aquabid usernames r9178 and Ronnie12345

Here's one of our all time favorites from Aquabid username DTdream18:

This guy claimed that the fish he bought arrived dead.We never dealt with him before and he was new on Aquabid. The normal procedure for such a case is that the dead fish are being send back to us after they were dried in salt for a few days. DTdream18 found this was completely unreasonable, we're talking about 1" Rams and not a 1ft long Oscar. We never got the fish back from him. The whole deal smelled of foul play from the very beginning. The fish traveled only for a few hrs from MD to NYC and we still believe that they were alive and well on arrival. Why is ist so hard to send the fish back if you want your money back? We did it many times. This guy fought it all the way, he even had his buddies make false bids on our auctions until we threatened him with legal actions. Enjoy!

Max ...

I won an auction of yours advertising Juvenile Rams.
After paying you with paypal, you took it upon yourself
to change the order ( without consulting me ) and ship
me young adult fish.

Note: Is there a difference e between young adults and juveniles? We did send DTdream18 juveniles as he ordered . They were more expensive sexed pairs instedat of unsexed juveniles.

Whether you thought that you were doing me a favor or
not by sending young adults instead of the juvenile fish
I'm not sure. What I wanted was the Juvenile Rams that
you advertised.

The fish arrived dead ! They were poorly packaged ! I sent you
photographic proof of the dead fish !

Note : The fish looked pretty healthy in the photo he send , just lying on a table.

You make a rediculous request that I pack the fish in salt for
a few days then send them back to you. You say that this is
standard procedure in the tropical fish industry. Max, I'm 44 years
old and have been a hobbyist since I've been 10 years old. I've
worked in the industry myself both in the retail end and as a breeder.
I've worked with and know virtually every shop owner in the NJ and
NYC area. I've never heard of this so called standard procedure.

I will not be salting the fish carcases and I will not be sending your
fish back. The idea of packing them in the original shipping container
as in your earlier request is unreasonable and makes no sense at all.

He wrote this after we insisted on getting the dead fish back to issue a refund:

Your dead fish are on the way back to you
moron !

Note: We're still waiting for the dead fish to arrive!

I've called American Express and
they'll be stopping the paypal payment. You'll
have to hash it out with paypal now.

Note: There was nothing to hash out with paypal.

I'll be looking for your internet postings
jackass ! It will be fun to reply to them, explaining
my story so everyone can see just what a crook you are.

Being as I work for the Newark Star Ledger as a
computer consultant, maybe I'll create a Website
with links to your name so other hobbyists can
be warned about purchasing anything from you. Beleive
me there will be photo's and transcripts from our
correspondence you piece of shit !

Enjoy the dead fish jerkoff ...

One year later we got another e-mail from this fine Gentleman:

Subject : Re : German blue rams

Date : Mon, 7 Apr 2003 17:25:58 -0400

I saw your auction for German Rams on aquabid.com.
My question is ... would you be able to sell me 4 female
rams, instead of pairs ? If so, what would be the price of
the fish, the shipping costs etc ? Would you accept
a visa card payment if the answer is yes ?

Thanks
MJ

MJ if you read this, here's our answer to your e-mail.: Not in this lifetime!!!
